Convert PDF to JPG on iPhone and iPad
You do not need an app, an account or a subscription to turn a PDF into images on an iPhone or iPad. Safari can run the whole conversion locally, and the results can be saved to Photos, Files or iCloud Drive.

Convert a PDF to JPG nowBefore you start
- Open this page in Safari, Chrome or Firefox — Safari gives the smoothest file picking on iOS.
- Make sure the PDF is somewhere reachable: Files, iCloud Drive, Downloads, or an email attachment you have saved.
- Keep the tab in the foreground while converting. iOS pauses background tabs, which stops the work.
Convert the PDF in Safari
- 1Tap Choose PDF Files and pick your document in the Files browser.
- 2Wait a moment while the page previews appear, then tap any page to include or exclude it — or type a range such as 1, 3, 5-8.
- 3Choose the image quality. Standard (150 DPI) is plenty for a phone screen.
- 4Tap Convert to JPG and watch the progress line, which names the page being rendered.
Save the images
- One page: tap Download JPG. Safari shows the download arrow next to the address bar; tapping it opens the image, where you can long-press and choose Add to Photos.
- Several pages: tap Download all as ZIP. The archive lands in Files › Downloads, where you can tap it to unzip and then move or share the images.
- To keep JPEGs in Photos directly, convert one page at a time and use Add to Photos after the download finishes.
What happens with a ZIP on iOS
iOS unpacks ZIP files natively. Open Files, go to Downloads, tap the archive, and iOS creates a folder with the same name holding every converted page. From there you can select all the images, copy them into another app, or share them in one message.
If the page previews look stuck on a large document
- Very large PDFs take longer to preview on a phone. Pages are rendered one at a time to protect memory, so the previews fill in gradually.
- You can convert before every preview has appeared — selection still works from the page counter and the range box.
- If Safari reloads the page on an unusually large document, lower the quality to 150 DPI and convert in smaller page ranges.
