About
A PDF to JPG converter built for one thing
PDFtoJPG.ca exists to convert PDF pages into JPG images quickly, free, and without your documents ever leaving your computer. It is supported by advertising rather than subscriptions, accounts or credits.
One job, done properly
The homepage is the converter. No marketing funnel, no account wall, no upsell between you and a finished image.
Private by architecture
Your document is rendered by your own browser. We never receive it, so there is nothing for us to store, leak or delete.
Honest about limits
If a page is too large to render safely, the converter says so instead of failing quietly or handing back a broken image.
How the converter works
Modern browsers include everything needed to draw a PDF page: a scripting engine, a canvas, and image encoders. The site adds the Mozilla PDF.js rendering library — the same open-source engine used by Firefox to display PDFs — and uses it to draw each selected page onto a canvas at the resolution you choose. The canvas is then encoded as a real JPEG image, which is what you download.
Because the renderer runs on your device, there is no upload, no queue, no server cost per conversion, and no waiting for a remote machine. The trade-off is that very large documents are limited by your own browser and memory, which is why the converter processes pages one at a time and reports when a resolution had to be reduced.
How PDFtoJPG.ca compares
Three things decide whether a converter is worth trusting: whether your file is uploaded, what the free tier actually allows, and whether an account is required. The converters most people try first do the work on their own servers, which is why their free plans are capped and why they ask you to sign up. PDFtoJPG.ca runs the job inside your browser, so none of that applies.
